Here we are in the Autumn season!

Hopefully we can continue to enjoy the lovely weather we have had over the last months which contributed to some fabulous times. We hope you had a great summer! Most of you kept up and followed either a Fit For Anything exercise routine or your own routine during your holiday which is applaudable.

It has been great to see you regularly and hear about your sporting achievements over the summer. You all did so well!

Over the summer  we have seen our clients participating in numerous events, one of which is L' etape de Tour, cycling a stage like the pro's. This year it was stage 20 from Megeve to Morzine in The Alps. Another great cycling event, RideLondon - Surrey 100 mile was completed by clients Sudheer, Vivek and Unhar Gupta.

Fit For Anything takes part in a lot of fitness events and we are always taken in by the sense of community at these gatherings. One other event we would like to mention is the Nijmegen marches, also called the Four Day Walk which takes place each year at the end of July in The Netherlands - you can read more about this amazing community spirit fitness event in our blog here

The support from especially local community was at such a high level which I hadn't experienced for decades which really helped the participants to achieve their goals and to complete the event. Together we support, motivate and inspire each other which contributes greatly to keep us going strong and to strive to be(come) Fit For Anything.

This month our client feature is Andy Halliday who competes at the top in amateur cycling and holds most time trail records for Westerley Cycling Club.

Interview with Andy

What is the event you are doing/have done?
In season I compete at the top within amateur (I am ranked within the top 50 UK) cycling level for Westerley Cycling Club. See www.westerley.cc for details. Currently holding TT (Time Trial) club records for the 10 mile, 25 mile, 50 mile, 100 mile and 12 hour distance.

Why did you do it?
I train 15-20 hours average a week and I go abroad 2-3 times a year for cycling training camps. My training schedules are accustomed accordingly.

What was your highlight of the event?
Breaking club records and keep on doing that drives me.

What was the toughest?
Toughest TT event distance for me is a 12 hour event as I naturally have raw explosive power available rather then the long endurance fibres.

How did you feel after you finished?
Just like at any other race, nothing left in my legs or body.

Would you recommend the event and would you do it again?
Cycling is great in general and I recommend this relatively safe sport to everyone. Most people would like to know how fast they would be doing a certain TT distance. Join a club for any continuous cycling tips and get sports specific coaching and/or mentoring from a personal trainer such as I did. I have worked with Roel for a number of years. He uses a very adaptive training schedule which considers my in and out of season training. With this high demand on my body Roel keeps a close eye to avoid over training, illness or injury.

Great points to take away from here! Thank you Andy. Remember to let us know if you are taking part in an event so we can feature you.
