July 2019

The sun has re-appeared and provides the perfect opportunity to get outside and make the most of the lovely weather. FFA clients have also been making the most of the jam-packed events calendar and signing up to test themselves at events coming up over the next few months! More on that shortly.

In case you missed them, the latest FFA blogs have looked at a subject very close to my heart and one I am asked frequently about - why I do what I do. Are some of the reasons similar to things that motivate you and the benefits you feel? We have also taken a look at the impact of exercise on ageing. Age may be nothing but a number but how do you feel your best at every age at a cellular level?

On Thursday 27th June I flew out to Poland to take part in the O.C.R. European Championships to represent The Netherlands in the mens 45-49 age category. I knew with recent injury and the demanding obstacles awaiting me that this would be a challenge with less than 20% chance of completing all obstacles properly. But never one to shy away from such a challenge, and fuelled by adrenaline and anticipation, I was ready to take it on!
Ready to enjoy yet again the experience of at least taken part in it, a reward after qualifying for these events.

Over both the short (5 km) and the standard (15 km) course I was spurred on by the camaraderie, joy and pride always on show at these events, but just like over two-thirds of participants within my category, some of the obstacles were a challenge too far despite a number of attempts to conquer them. It was certainly a mixed bag of emotions, feelings and experiences coming back from this trip to Poland for The O.C.R. European Championships 2019. Overwhelmingly though was a feeling of pride at what had been accomplished, satisfaction at the obstacle experience gained on mostly new obstacles and full of determination to get do my upmost best to be ready to tackle the obstacles at The O.C.R. World Championships in October!

Well done to all clients on working hard this past month and for their achievements. On 18th May Lauren Diventura took on the Rough Runner 10K with obstacles in Oxfordshire - it was a tough course, well done for participating and for completing it!

Good luck to FFA clients delivering the agreed set goals, training hard and to those signed up to take part in some of the upcoming events!! Why not set one of these as your next target?

Expect quality and difficult world class obstacles on a muddy course which will take you about 2 hours to complete. Are you up for it? Please contact Roel for further details.
