June 2018

With temperatures rising this week, we have been turning up the heat on the summer training regimes. From 10K's and half marathon's, OCR events and the Athletics season in full swing, June has been action packed with events and celebrations as FFA clients hit their goals.

Caroline Isaacs has been training with Fit For Anything for over a year now. Initially, her training centred on participating in the 2017 London Marathon which she completed. The training programme made her even stronger, leaner, fitter and this has only improved with her training since. She is dedicated, pushes herself to her limits during training, gives her all in all she does, works hard, plays hard and lives life to the fullest. Her commitment and consistency in being active are paying dividends.

In addition to training, Caroline enjoys hiking and has completed a long trek in China with her friend, she jogs weekly, plays tennis and two months ago she won a (handicapped) tennis tournament too at Pinner West End Lawn Tennis Club. Her latest trek was in Peru earlier this month where she and her husband Alan managed to hike up to Machu Picchu which to get to is tough, having to climb a height of over 10,000 ft (3000m). Well done Caroline and Alan, keep up the good work!

Sessions have been taking place for those who are looking to improve running performance and technique over obstacles at both The Farm in Borehamwood and at Merchant Taylors School in Northwood. Our H2O sessions have included rope climbs, 400m drills, long jump technique, 20m standard bleep tests to establish fitness (VO2 oxygen consumption) level, 200m sprint drills, technique and fun high jump practice and of-course improving technique on balancing, hanging and overcoming obstacles.

The sessions are varied to build strength, speed and endurance for those who are looking to participate in events or just to enjoy fun sessions with like-minded people at every level. Contact Roel for session details or join our FB group to stay up to date.

Congratulations to everyone that has completed events over the last month. These have included The Mud Monsters Obstacle Course on the 3rd June and the Watford 10K on the 10th June.

Due to popular request, FFA will be offering a fitness retreat in Spain (Costa Brava). The current dates being looked at for this are the 25/8 - 1/9. If you would be interested in attending, please contact Roel for further details.

he School Athletics Championships are drawing to a close. It has been a great competitive season and Sabrina has come 4th in the Herts county final for 800m in 2min. 37sec in somewhat uncomfortable 25 degrees.
