Hello

The lovely mild and relatively sunny weather during the past month may have played a part in the abundance of participations in outdoor local events by you. Well done to all, keep it up and please keep on sending your event pictures.

The first ever all abilities event called Parallel London was held at The Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park last month. It was a success and our great P.T. client Geoff Adams-Spink was a participant and ambassador for this new event.

Many of you took part in obstacle course races (o.c.r.'s). Client Ilse Van der Linden took part in The Seriously Fun 5K with some of her friends. Client Imran Ahmed and his work colleagues took part in the Tough Mudder (TM) South half, which is 5-6 miles long and Heidi Benn took part in the TM South 11-12 miles event. Others participated in The Bear Grylls Survival Race London 10km distance and in Judgement Day, both events were held at Pippingford Park London.

The Moor Park 10km Run was completed by client Lauren Diventura and her husband Angelo. As a family we take part in this race most years. It is really well organised and such a great event, perhaps we can get a Fit For Anything's team together for it next year.

The Cross Country running season started 15th October in Oxford in which my daughter Sabrina (11) participates. It is a Chiltern league in which about once a month for 5 months she runs a 3km race for her Athletics Club.

Finally client Sally Wadhwa took part in the Bournemouth Marathon Festival participating in the Half Marathon. Her story is featured below.

Since so many of you have been taken part in outdoors events I want to take this opportunity to mention and for most of you introduce you to Parkrun. This is a weekly event run by volunteers and is free. It is a 5k timed run and is great to help you stay on track and to boost your fitness. The nearest venue is Cassiobury Park in Watford and it is held 9am each Saturday. Go onto their website to register and print off your barcode as you won't be able to run without it. Perhaps run it as a group? Let me know if you are interested...

On the 2nd October I made the journey down to Bournemouth to take part in their half marathon. This is the first time I have taken part in this race but it is held every year. I originally booked and paid for my place in February earlier in the year so it was a long wait for this time to come. I had a feeling of excitement and nerves before this race as I was taking part on my own. Start time was 8am and the sun was shining strong. For big races like this you are put into 'pens' depending on your finish time so I joined my pen and met up with people to run with. Its actually not that hard to do, even for the shyest person like me but I often find people so encouraging and friendly during these races. I had the best view running through the town and along the coast, it really was a beautiful half marathon. The streets were lined with crowds cheering you on and handing out sweets and doing high fives with participants. At about mile 9 I really started to struggle so i walked a few metres and drank some water which i wasn't afraid to do as I was so determined to finish i didn't want to take any chances not too. When I felt better I changed my music and carried on. The crowds got bigger and louder at the last 3 miles and I felt myself getting faster. I finished in 2:24, a PB for me. The event was very well organised and I will be back next year!

Most of you do but please keep telling us about the events you are taking part in and how you got on so if you don't mind we can feature you.
Is there anything in particular you would like to see in our newsletter which isn't covered at the moment? Let us know.

I hope you all have a good November.
