May 2019

It has been a little while since our last newsletter but with lots of action, challenges and success to report we hope you enjoy this bumper edition. From obstacles to endurance, there is an event for every taste and fitness level. We find out how FFA clients fared in events over April and the start of May. These events can help to keep you motivated, stay on track with your goals, and they are lots of fun too! Why not set one as your next goal?

On Sunday 5th May,  an 8 woman and man strong team travelled to Henley on Thames to take on the renowned Tough Mudder Event. With 10-11 miles and at least 25 obstacles, the weather seemed to embrace the challenge and throw every season at us in one day - sun, torrential rain, hail, wind and a chilly 8 degrees which didn't do anything to help the already somewhat too many freezing water obstacles.

If the distance wasn't a great enough challenge, obstacles with names such as Mudderhorn, The Gauntlet, Black Widow, Augustus Gloop, Hydrophobia and Entrapment certainly were. Both were conquered alongside many more obstacles! The FFA team stayed and pulled together, pushed themselves hard and for some team members there were parts where they were tested to their limit. Some obstacles are mentally testing when already shivering from being cold. Would you go in an ice bath for about 10 seconds and submerge for about 3 seconds? Well, the Arctic Enema obstacle did just that. Would you climb a 20m tall netted A-frame when you aren't keen on heights? In both cases, Kashyap completed it, of course with a dose of support, encouragement and guidance from our team. A fantastic display of team spirit, training and determination which carried the team all the way through to the finish.

You can read all about their experience at http://www.fitforanything.net/blog-posts/2019/5/12/why-you-should-make-an-ocr-event-your-next-challenge

Well done to Aneeka Patel, Jahnvi, Vyoma, Aish and Kashyap R from the Karia family, Neil Shah, Jaspal and Roel. Great team effort & all smiles throughout despite the ‘cool’ sections!

On 28th April the biggest UK sporting event took place, The London Marathon. With 26.2 miles to cover through the streets of London, lined with supporters cheering you on - it is certainly one for the bucket list! The Hampton Court Palace Half Marathon (17/3) and The Reading Half Marathon (17/3) served as fantastic warm-ups for this event and participants optimised their opportunity to practice for race day conditions and pacing.

Congratulations to all who got involved and completed this amazing achievement. In particular, FFA would like to congratulate Sally Wadhwa (6.35.39), Preena Divecha (5.41.51), Wendy Jordan (4.46.17) and Joanne Shale (2.56.34)!!!! A massive well done! Fit For Anything was proud to support their respective charities as we know them well.

Five clients and myself have entered the ballot for the London Marathon in 2020 so fingers crossed to get in, otherwise it will have to be through fund-raising a whopping 2K each for their chosen charities.

From 7/4-14/4 there was the pre-season athletics training for the top athletic students from St. Clement Danes as well as other secondary Schools. Sabrina Jansen was selected too. She enjoyed the fully packed athletic week and came back with more knowledge, experience, confidence and became a bit fitter and stronger too.

The main and next FFA Team O.C.R. Event will be at The O.C.R. World Championships in Brentwood, Essex. This unique opportunity to earn a World Championships Medal is there for anyone!!!!! No qualification needed for this particular event, please contact Roel for further details. This event is called the 7km Individual Open and will take place on Sunday 13th October. Expect quality and difficult world class obstacles on a muddy course which will take you about 2 hours to complete. Are you up for it?

There will no longer be any personal training sessions at The Body Studio in Northwood Hills held by Roel after the end of May. All clients affected have been informed and alternative venues for continued training with Roel have been indicated. The nearest venue will be at Personal Training Performance in Pinner. Please contact Roel for any further information.

Good luck to FFA clients delivering the agreed set goals, training hard and taking part in events in May and throughout 2019.

As ever, I look forward to continuing to work with you to keep you on track to achieve your goals.
